Cows in the Shade
Jan 18 @ 9:00 pm – 11:59 pm
Cows In The Shade is a hard driving blues and old R&B powerhouse.
Biography:

The Cows In The Shade was formed in a pasture on a small farm in northern Illinois, November of 2007, to host some open jams over the holidays to help a friend promote his BBQ restaurant. Those jams were an “udder” success, lasted for over two years and we have been together ever since. When we added a horn section to the herd we evolved into a horn driven blues and R&B powerhouse that plays an exciting mix of cover tunes and original material. Every venue that we have played has always asked us back

Keven Presbrey and the Midwest with Dan Pratt
Feb 21 @ 9:00 pm – 11:59 pm

Drawing upon the influences of sultry singer-songwriters such as Jim Croce and Ray Lamontagne, Kevin Presbrey’s latest creation Dust Unto Dust is a marriage of the catchy hook and the rootsy americana track you might hear on a early 1970s record. Collaborating with Seattle based producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Milo Greene, Ra Ra Riot, Rocky Votolato), Presbrey and drummer Danny Pratt ventured off to Bear Creek Studios in the Pacific Northwest with the intention of finding the organic acoustic sound they mutually enjoyed on their favorite vinyls from bands like America, The Eagles & Fleetwood Mac. In this first departure from Painkiller Hotel, the Dust Unto Dust EP was created with good intentions and a heavy heart.

Blue Edge of the Prairie
Apr 25 @ 9:00 pm – 11:59 pm

Blue Edge of The Prairie plays original Acoustic Americana. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kerry Spitzer is best known for his bluesy slide, quick picked swing-rock-bluegrass lines, sweet fingerstyle guitar, and deft banjo licks but he’s not above strumming a mandolin, a bouzouki, or pounding out a gospel fueled R&B piano part either. Janice Chase Frillmann is a classically trained violinist who’s improvisational skills are in demand with blues, jazz and rock bands all around the Chicago/Milwaukee area. Their music sports deep folk, pre-war blues, old school soul, and bluegrass roots but can veer into swing, ska, Celtic, or rockabilly territory and back again at the drop of a hat. The songs themselves have the earthy honesty, wry humor, and pathos that reflects a small town Midwest blue collar upbringing combined with big time travels. They’re a great vehicle for Kerry’s gravelly, world worn, but exuberant voice. The songs are performed with conviction, polish, and a zeal that comes from good musicians having a little fun playing with, and off each other. The feeling is downright contagious.
